4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Pre-clinical, useful revision thereafter., 26 Mar. 2013

This review is from: Renal Physiology: Mosby Physiology Monograph Series (with Student Consult Online Access), 5e (Mosby's Physiology Monograph) (Paperback)
As a third year student on a renal and endocrine firm, this book has been very useful in revisiting many areas relating to renal physiology. The level appears to be pitched at pre-clinical years, and there are comprehensive explanations of all renal functions.

There is a good chapter on acid-base balance which I feel is very well explained. I have found this book useful for revisiting regulation of potassium and the various diuretics. Most sections have 'in the clinic' boxes, which give useful hints and facts that really are commonly observed on hospital placements.

There are occasional long winded sentences which require a bit of digestion but apart from that it's well written. There are also a number of cases to test yourself on at the end, which I have found useful and engaging.

In summary this book offers a lot for pre-clinical year students, and is highly useful for revisiting the kidney in your clinical years.
