5.0 out of 5 stars Got me up and running in Flash CS5
I've been working with Macromedia MX 2004 until recently so this book was to help me with the conversion to Adobe CS5. It's well presented and although I am only half way through, it has helped me pick up plenty of tips already. Don't know if it would be the right choice for an absolute beginner though, as it focusses on the how and not the why - no real preamble. But...

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy Kindle edition
I made the mistake of buying the Kindle version, which is not delivered with the exercise files. Without these, the book is utterly useless - you can't follow any of the lessons!

The fact that Amazon don't mention this on the Kindle storefront (and include reviews from the printed version of the book, which also don't mention it) is a serious issue and one that...

This review is from: Adobe Flash Professional CS5 Classroom in a Book (Classroom in a Book (Adobe)) (Paperback)
I have found this book and the DVD to be excellent value for money. The book clearly explains the terms used in Flash and it requires very little previous knowledge from the user at the beginning.

Working through each chapter seams to be the most logical approach and the lessons are very well structured. The book and DVD combination lends itself very well to self study. The chapters/lessons are designed to be completed in about 1 or 2 hours depending on the complexity of the lesson and the lessons become progressively more challenging as you move through the book.

The DVD contains all the code and associated materials required for each lesson and you can view the finished result before you start of each lesson. I find this particularly useful so I can see the bigger picture for each lesson. The DVD also contains links to the online Adobe Community for additional help and support

I would recommend this book for beginners and intermediate users or those who only intend to occasionally program in Flash.
