5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you need to get started
This book starts with an introduction to objective C and goes all the way up to cocoa iphone development.
The Live Lessons disk with it is in flash Video format, This may surprise you if you were expecting a DVD that you could watch on your home DVD player.
It goes through the first part of the book only (language fundamentals).

2.0 out of 5 stars Faulty DVD
The book itself is good - and I would give it 4 stars. The live lessons DVD though is faulty and has been compiled incorrectly. You are unable to access Lesson 2 - Defining A Class To Work with Fractions. When you click on this lesson it takes you to the next chapter of lesson 2 which is Accessing Instance Variables. When I contacted the publishers technical support,...

This review is from: Programming in Objective-C 2.0 LiveLessons Bundle (Paperback)
This book starts with an introduction to objective C and goes all the way up to cocoa iphone development.
The Live Lessons disk with it is in flash Video format, This may surprise you if you were expecting a DVD that you could watch on your home DVD player.
It goes through the first part of the book only (language fundamentals).
Also on the disk is all the source code.
One thing to note is that the disk is not a replacement for the book as there are some parts skipped on the disk.
I would suggest reading through the book chapter first, then watching through the video as a kind of revision.

The examples are sufficient to illustrate the subject being explained if perhaps a little boring.

You will find yourself referring back to this book often as a reference much more than the flashier books on the market
I would recommend this to anyone serious about becoming a Mac or iPhone developer.

This review is from: Programming in Objective-C 2.0 LiveLessons Bundle (Paperback)
When I contacted the publishers technical support, they said the lesson was missing from the DVD and referred me to some 'grainy' video on the authors website that was hardly watchable. I therefore would recommend giving the live lessons DVD a miss until they resolve this problem properly. If you buy a DVD you want to watch the content on the DVD - not some poor quality video on a website. I returned the bundle to Amazon for a refund and just purchased the book on it's own.
