The Ordnance Survey Explorer maps are larger scale (4cm to 1km) compared to the Landranger maps (2cm to 1km) and as such are great for outdoor activities like walking and cycling.

This Sevenoaks & Tonbridge edition is © 2007 and covers from Farnborough and West Kingsdown to the north, Royal Tonbridge Wells to the south, and from west to east runs from Biggin Hill to Tonbridge.

The area covered by the map is a great one for exploring by foot, such as the North Downs and scenic open countryside, and is an invaluable item for planning an enjoyable hike around the area.

The map is single sided and measures 127cm x 95cm fully opened. The paper quality is good, but it's not waterproof so it's worth considering the plastic coated weatherproofed 'active' versionSevenoaks and Tonbridge (OS Explorer Map Active) if it's to be used in rainy conditions.

It's a map and that's about all you need to know other than it's cheaper here than in Stanfords or WHS

Another great product from OS. A must if you want to explore any new area. I would recommend the explorer range to anyone who wants to walk or cycle an area rather than drive because of the increased scale and higher detail such as long distance footpaths and cyclepaths.

In a world of GPS, maps have become obsolete however what happens if GPS is knocked out. The current techo generation must know how to map read and use a compass. It's up to us to keep these skills alive.

The map itself is fine, however be warned that this is not the latest version with free mobile download. Should have ordered it directly from OS...not happy.

I have planned a series of walks in the Tonbridge area. Therefore I need an Ordnance Survey map. No discussion!

A good map that folds away neatly. We have not been out on any walks yet to give it a proper test

Make sure this is really what you want before you buy! The 'Active' description seems to now mean that this is the plastic laminated version of the OS map, rather than the paper version. That's very good if you want to read it in the rain, but pretty annoying otherwise, because this version is far more bulky than the regular version, as well as being more expensive!
