4.0 out of 5 stars A decently written period tale with a good storyline, 25 Jan. 2013

This review is from: District Nurse (Paperback)
I read this as a teenager and still remember it now. It is very readable for any age.

It revolves around a young girl, her upbringing and early adult years during the hardship of the Edwardian era in a small coal mining town.
It follows her as she enters service & gains the respect and ultimately support of one of her wealthy employers wives, much to the disapproval of the other servants. It's a sweet, satisfying story written not soppily but sensitively.
