5.0 out of 5 stars Eminently readable, Arminian, otherwise accurate and informative., 23 Oct 2007
This review is from: Renewal Theology: Systematic Theology from a Charismatic Perspective (Hardcover)
William's three-volumes-in-one attempt at a Systematic Theology for Charismatics is for the most part accurate, certainly useful, and easily digested. The basic tenets of the Christian faith are presented in an attractive style, the arguements much more easily understood than, say, Berkhof, or the Hodges. He is a man of his time, an excellent teacher, and well-worth reading. My theological position is Calvanistic rather than Arminian, but I found him neither arrogant nor 'condescending'. All-in-all, I am happy to have his work on my desk, as a handy, readable, reference tool. I strongly recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece of biblical scholarship, 28 April 2004
This review is from: Renewal Theology: Systematic Theology from a Charismatic Perspective (Hardcover)
Rodman William's has provided the Charismatic Renewal with a thoroughly biblical, erudite Pentecostal/Charismatic theology that informs, correctsand encourages Charismatic Christians in their doctrine and practice.
A three-in-one volume, this substantial work deals with much more thanCharismatic issues, covering all the major touchstones that generallyfeature in a systematic theology. Many Charismatics, however, may be alittle disappointed to discover the author's dismissal of the belief thathealing has been provided in the atonement. The arguments Williamspresents against this position are rather weak - a stronger case for thedoctrine exists than perhaps he was aware of at the time of writing.Doubtless many Charismatics will find other areas of disputation. Inanother theological category, I personally was disappointed to seereplacement theology advocated. (Tut tut)
Nevertheless, everyone will find much of value and worth in Williams'Renewal Theology. Any Charismatic who values sound doctrine willappreciate his mammoth effort.
Get this book. It is a very worthwhile addition to your library.
