Not the usual style, even for Doris Chan
on 17 June 2013
I pre-ordered this book, as I am a great fan of Doris Chan's designs, her method of clothing construction and her eye for a gorgeous lacy pattern. But, I'm sorry to say that I am very disappointed with this book. The designs are all very pretty, lacy and wearable, but the patterns are modular - made up of motifs stitched together, not her usual top-down, no-sew method. It may still be quick and easy, but it most definitely isn't "no-sew". On the positive side, the instructions are much more straightforward than usual, as there is less jumping around the book for each pattern, due to the fact that each pattern is for a small motif - which you then have to make multiple times. Sorry, but not for me.
