This item was a bought as a gift for my girlfriend. She loves everything that is Alexander Mcqueen and this book was a great gift to her.

It has got full page glossy images of his designs with snippets of dialogue explaining influences and touches that make the deigns unigue (even though his designs were unique enough). Its a must buy for anyone who is a fan of Mcqueen and a fan of Fashion

I ordered this book knowing quite alot about McQueen and his work but on recieving this beautifully presented/designed book I was amazed by the excellent photographs which really bring out the craftsmanship of his work. The cover that changes into McQueen was an unexpected bonus. Even if he was still alive and he had this book published it is still a testimony to his skill at cutting a pattern, his tailoring skills and his empathy with fabrics and the way he combines hard with the soft. This book is certainly well worth the price and more.

Highly recommend.

This is a beautifully presented book that serves to both support the material on display at the New York Met's Savage Beauty exhibition and is great retrospective on McQueen's work in its own right.

The pictures are lavish and at over A4-size they can do full justice to show his clothes both in their form and the exquisite detailing of tailoring and understanding of materials used. Most photographs stand on their own, although they are interspersed with quotations drawn from McQueen himself; these are generally very thoughtful and challenging and complement the photographs well.

The photos cover most of his professional work experience and so serve as a comprehensive introduction. The book follows the exhibition of drawing on the Romantic mind and sets most displays within that context, with that broken down to abstractions and sensibilities of the Gothic, nationalism, exoticism, primitivism & naturalism. There are also introductions that are helpful and informative, and a transcript of an interview with Sarah Burton, who developed her craft under McQueen from assistant to now Head of Design. In total, these make it much more than a simple exhibition catalogue.

This will obviously appeal to anybody who is a student of fashion and I would have thought a must for any enthusiast of McQueen.

I was lucky enough to visit what was truly a world-class exhibition on recommendation from a friend, and I am so glad I did. With no more than a passing interest in 'posh frocks', I left breathless and in complete awe of all that I had seen and the superlative presentation. Obviously, it is difficult for a book to compete with that, but it is challenging and engaging and throws light on his many key influences, and that which he has influenced, be they as diverse as Kate's wedding dress or Lady GaGa, along with many others.

The exhibition of the MET Savage Beauty about McQueen piece of work is just a highlight of how creative, outstanding and unique he was. The photos are beautifully edited and the selection of outfits are totally remarkable. It's a bit sad though to think we won't have his imagination anymore but we can enjoy this book, almost as a piece of art. Lucky those who have the chance to see the exhibition in NY.

A must for any McQueen fan, the cover effect is enticing and the gorgeous full page pics are intercut with quotes from McQueen and people who worked with him, that provide a great insight into the mind of a man who was a visionaire

Before you even open this book you are spellbound by the cover, transitioning from McQueen classic skull to his face, the pages are lively and insightful; with beautifully photographed designs. The interviews with certain notable people are an entertaining read, well written and displayed.
Even if you are not aware of McQueen's work this book still has the power to draw you in.

AN ICONIC BOOK BASED ON A TRULY ICONIC DESIGNER.
