Spiral-bound Step Two
on 6 March 2015
Step One was the Reader's Digest DIY Plumbing and Heating for a good grounding in UK home systems so that this title would make sense:) RD Kitchen and Bathroom DIY Manual walks the reader through understanding how kitchens and bathrooms function to repairing-maintaining, planning, and fitting the spaces properly.
Not as ultra-detailed as some might like but it’s given me enough knowledge to enable an intelligent discussion with my retired historic building conservation husband. It’s the best 'let's get down to real planning' book I’ve seen regarding renovating a kitchen or bathroom yet and I’ve seen quite a few the past few months as we begin planning our reno of both rooms.
Topics include deciding if under-floor heating is right for the particular property, plinth heaters, where notification is required, choosing taps, sanitary ware, fitting appliances, tiling, and so much more! Everything is illustrated with good photographs and directive text is clear, concise, and easy to follow. Red icons alert readers to which jobs will require notification. Although the book was published in 2007 very little of the ideas and projects seem dated or out of production.
