5.0 out of 5 stars Great edition!
JRR Tolkien's book "The Lord of the Rings" needs no introduction. It's a timeless classic that should at least be given a try by absolutley everyone! That said, this edition is just great! I was quite surprised when I first saw this edition with my own eyes. The books are large, pages are thick, the covers and the illustrations are a feast to look at and the...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Lord of the Rings: 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition
We all know that the The Lord of the Rings is a work of genius, so this review covers this particular published version (The Lord of the Rings: 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition). First off this book is expensive and in format it is only a little larger than the paperback version. Also apart from the three pages from the book of Mazurbul there are no illustrations. First...

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best trilogy after the Crystal Cave, 23 Aug 2000

Tolkien follows the writing style of the Greek mythologist Aissopos giving it a taste of the Northern European mists. It can be best read, listening to Manowar's Battle Hymns at the same time. Let yourselves feel the aura of the novel and the thunder of the author's epic writing style.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book in existence., 17 Sep 2000
By A Customer
This book is simply the greatest work of fiction in existence. It will never be equalled or surpassed. "The Lord of the Rings" completes the world Tolkien set out to describe in "The Hobbit." It is, without a doubt, a breathtaking world, breathtakingly described.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Bible, Tolkien was a genius., 12 Aug 2000
By A Customer
"The Lord of the Rings" shows Tolkien at his best as he portrays a journey into a mystical land of danger, mystery and enchantment. Unfortunately none of Tolkien's other works in my opinion begin to show the extent of his story-writing talents. A truly outstanding book!

This tale of adventure has you hooked from the first line. Read all about Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, Gandalf and of course Souron and all the other characters in this magnificant tale of heroism, bravery and discovery. Fall into this colourful world of hobbits and trolls, ingeniously created by J.R.R. Tolkien. Once you start reading you will NOT be able to stop. From the start of your journey with Frodo and his pals you enter this magical, mistical realm of fantasy, meeting all sorts of creatures along the way, including the wonderful Elves and Ents. You won't be able to tear yourself away! A must-read for all those into escapism, fantasy, heart-stopping adventure and a definate favourite for all those who like brilliantly written stories with an easy to follow plot and easy to imagine characters. You will not be dissapointed with your purchase and you will want to pick this book up and re-read it again and again and again. Everyone MUST own at least one copy of this amazing book. If you read nothing else in your life-time, read this. You can't help but love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Two Towers is kewl, 6 April 1999
By A Customer
This book is a good one. The only bad part about it that I noticed was that I could put it down with ease, unlike the others of this series. I didn't notice any difference, it was just that I lost track of my spot on the page, or something. I don't know. Get this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Escapism at its most excellent, 4 Dec 2000
The CD version is great! I had the boxed set of tapes but they literally wore out through use over the years. The CD version is well worth the money though, I was a little disappointed at the quality of the packaging at this price level. The tapes were better presented.
