This review is from: Nietzsche's Philosophical Context: An Intellectual Biography (International Nietzsche Studies) (Hardcover)
This is a book about Nietzsche's philosophical sources: what he actually read and when. Very important for those inquiring minds who see some similarities between Nietzsche and other philosophers and wonder whether it's accidental, due to Zeitgeist, or was it a result of direct influence. For instance, it might come as a surprise that Nietzsche never read Darwin directly, yet he had quite a lot to say (mostly agonistically) about him. What I admire very much about this book is its honesty and reliability. You can trust the Swedes!

Perhaps, it's slightly regrettable that a similar context for Nietzsche's thought has not been published in the realm of literature, music and the arts.
