Another great volume of insight, 18 July 2010
This review is from: Digital Art Masters: Volume 5 (Paperback)
Length:: 1:30 Mins
Digital Art Masters: Volume 5 is another great compilation of top quality art and insightful tutorials. If you have earlier volumes, you pretty much expected that. I've a wonderful time going through this thick 288-page book. This time, art is categorised into 5 sections: Sci-Fi, Scene, Fantasy, Character and Cartoon. As usual, you see work created from all sorts of medium (2D & 3D), across a variety of art genre gravitating towards concept art. There are 3D modeling on different subjects, digital and background painting and many more. The featured illustrations and galleries are beautiful and detailed. I can't begin to imagine the amount of time spent to create some of these inspiring illustrations, especially so when some of them are just personal projects. There's plenty to learn from as there are to see. The artists share their techniques as they go through their process of creating the featured illustrations. The book is filled with all sorts of tips, ranging from matte painting, scene composition to even portrait drawing. You can also visit the publisher's website for some free video tutorials. Volume 5 is a great addition. Highly recommended to 3D modelers, digital painting artists and art lovers. (There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)

Inspiration and tutorials, 11 April 2011
This review is from: Digital Art Masters: Volume 5 (Paperback)
I really loved this book. I think is a great inspiration source for graphic artist in general (3d or 2d alike). High print quality. Also it contains the logic process on creating an image, with small tutorials, which I thought is really cool as you can see the creative process and the intermediary images. Now, regarding the "tutorial" part, I have to say that it describes in general the technique used, but it's not a step by step tutorial. If you are a digital artist with over-average skill I think you can easily follow, but u need the right tools and knowledge.

Another great book in an excellent series., 11 Jan 2011
This review is from: Digital Art Masters: Volume 5 (Paperback)
I really love this series of books and own most of them. This book contains a brilliant selection of images and the print quality is very good. While there are other more lavish digital art books I find this has excellent combination of image choice, print quality and price. The artist comments are a nice touch too. I thought this written content would ditract from the viewing experience but it actually adds to it being generally very interesting and especially usefull to anyone that likes to attempt such art. You really cant go wrong with this book or others in the series.
