5.0 out of 5 stars The best of the bunch possibly, 30 Mar 2009

I have this manual plus the ones from Scott Kelby and Barbara Brundage. I would say that this is the best one to get if you want a clear and well presented manual on PSE7. The Kelby is also good but it is not exactly a manual i.e. it has a list of everything pretty much that you might want to do and then tells you exactly how to do it. I never look at the Brundage one since getting this one from Phillip Andrews which is very much superior in every way (even the paper quality).

5.0 out of 5 stars Advanced Photoshop Elements 7 for Digital Photographers, 28 April 2009
This review is from: Advanced Photoshop Elements 7 for Digital Photographers (Paperback)
An excellent and well written book highlighting the changes to this version of Photoshop Elements. It also contains the key features that have made this series of books by Philip Andrews so useful for the Digital Photographer whether he or she is an amateur or a professional.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very detailed treatment, 6 Sep 2010
This review is from: Advanced Photoshop Elements 7 for Digital Photographers (Paperback)
This is a really good, in-depth, book - but you need to be prepared for a lot of reading.

One thing I really like (-as I only have Elements 4.0) is that every feature explained details exactly which versions of Elements support it, so this is not just a book for Elements 7.0 owners (-despite the title). The author gives a lot of background and lots of photos and examples (-which of course ARE of v7.0) but that does not detract significantly.

One note of caution: the author is a Pro photographer, so newbies to the subject may be daunted by the depth - and the breadth - of the subjects covered. However, to it's credit, it IS a very well organised book and - if you feel a subject area is of no interest - it's perfectly possible to skip that section/chapter (-with the exception of the introductory ones I imagine) and just read the ones you desire.

Some of the chapters at the end read like afterthoughts and confused me: for example, there is a section on Adobe Lightroom, but I don't think the author sufficiently explained what it WAS before diving into it's various features, but as this is a book about Elements, that's small beer.

All in all, if you really want to get to grips with Elements and what it can (-or can't) do for you, then this is the one to buy. At over 400 colour pages, it's a steal at the price that Amazon is asking as well..

Philip Andrews is highly respected by Adobe, this publication like all of his other shows why.
Easy to follow, easy to reference if you're stuck and very comprehensive.
If you value your images and your editing time, this is the one to buy.
