My Fairytale Dream Palace is absolutely gorgeous, honestly, I'm amazed at the quality and detail. The book is divided into two sections; the first is a fairytale that guides you around the palace and introduces you to a host of press-out cardboard characters. Once you've read the story you come to the second part of the book, which is even better, you fold back the covers and out pops the most amazing 3D palace. Packed with detail, wonderful colours, illustrations, a good large size, well made and just "beautiful".

So much thought has gone into this publication (you should see the 3D beds and furtniture) they've even gone to the trouble of adding a cardboard overnight bag to store all of the press-out bits and pieces.

I don't have a criticism, I do have one piece of advice:- very young child will rip and tear this wonderful pop-up with no trouble at all. The whole thing's beautifully made and quite durable but it won't stand up to much wear and tear.

This 30 by 20cm book is a actually a 3-D paper palace with 22 characters and accessories to pop out and a story at the front. The whole thing is folded out and secured by a ribbon to make a 3 stories palace. We also own My Fairy Winter Wonderland and so my daughter is familiar with the concept and was excited to see what secrets were in this palace. This book has a lot of detailing. including a roof top garden, maze and also lots of stairs for the little figures to be walked up and down. There are three separate walled section through the 360 degrees of the book, as opposed to 4 in some of the other titles, this makes access to the scenes for play easier for little hands.

My daughter plays with her toys quite carefully and so hasn't damaged this book really or the other she has owned for a year or two - this is all made of paper but it's fairly robust and cleverly folds down when play is done. There are a few nice touches like the fact that the beds have a cover that can be lifted up to put any of 8 2-D characters to bed. The story at the front is about a fairy sleep over in a castle, in all honesty the story is probably the weakest aspect of the book, but play value wise it's excellent and there are little nooks and crannies to discover every time you pay with it - a fairy hiding in a tree or a weather wheel to turn. All the little pop out accessories are stored in a pocket at the front and have been well thought through - bed time items feature as do fairytale staples such as a frog and a pumpkin, all encouraging imagination and interaction from the child. There are no embellishments or glitter but the drawing is exquisite and the pictures are bright and engaging for a child.

These books make lovely gifts and are something a little bit different that any little girl from about just under 3 and up is sure to enjoy, particularly if they like fairies.

My wife and I opened this in the presence of our three year old grand-daughter. As we opened the book one word resonated from each of us at the same time - "wow!"

This is very much a case of not judging a book by its cover - literally. This is a pop-up book and what pops up will take your breath away for a book of this nature.

The revelation of the palace is remarkable. Other reviewers have remarked upon the amount of detail revealed, so I will not bore you with repeating what has been so eloquently described by other reviewers.

If I have any criticism with this product it is just that the product seems just too good for a young child to play with, in that it is quite fragile and is likely to be damaged quite easily. That said, do not let this put you off. I only wish they did this sort of thing for boys and that I was fifty years younger. Highly recommended.

stunningly beautiful. disagreeing with the least helpful review which said the book wont close, it will close even if a young child ripped out the pop up book and actually it would last as long as any book would in the hands of a young child. the illustrator is very talented. this book is a marvel. firstly you read a long and detailed story then you come to a page with 21 pull out props which will be then used to play with the 360 degree pop up palace right at the end of the book. the pop us is amazing and colourful. imagine how much more beautiful the props would be if they had glitter on them! intricately designed, even staircases going up in each section. there are three sections so imagine a circle divided into 3. to keep the pop up open u tie both hardback covers with a ribbon but i think three ribbons would have done a better job. my soon to be 7 year old loved receiving this as a present. i showed her the titles without giving away the surprise and she chose this one. i do wonder how long she will carry on playing with it though. i think the optimum age for this book would be 5. amazon always does the best value on books. and i love that they have so many products on free delivery. this is a brilliant present to give anyone but beware not all the books have a 3d pop up. i bought the top model books by depesche and the paper fashions by klutz on amazon along with this to keep two daughters entertained during the summer holidays and both the other books are brilliant too.

The book is hard backed and measures aprox 12x10 ½ inches (31cm x 27cm). The back of the book opens into a pop up 4 story high castle with 3 different scenes. (Almost 17 inches (43cm) in height to the top of the turrets).

The castle opens into a complete circle and can be kept open with the aid of a clothes peg and a couple of items to act as weights when it is new. The fist lower tier scene is the throne room with a fountain in the garden, there is a staircase up to the bedrooms on the second tier; a spinning wheel in the third tier and a roof garden which goes all around the three scenes and turrets. The second lower tier scene is the garden and play area complete with maze. The second and third floors in this scene are play rooms. The third lower tier scene is the kitchen with pop up stove; a staircase leads up to the second floor bedroom complete with bunk beds. The third tier in this scene is the bathroom.

Page 6 of the book contains push out double sided play figures of the king and queen 8 children dressed in pyjamas and a baby plus 12 other objects from cakes to dishes and pumpkin to frog. The bottom corners on the figures bend to help them stand up. When not in play, these press out fairies can be stored in the little cardboard vanity bag attached to page 7 with pictures of toothbrush, tooth paste and comb.

The castle closes with a ribbon when not in use but you have to make sure that the turrets are properly tucked in first. The book incorporates a lovely story about the castle which encourages the child to play out the scenes within the castle.

This is a brilliant book and one of the best pop-up books I've seen in a long time, the only downside is that the figures aren't made of more robust material. My 3 year old granddaughter loves this book and has played with it for hours and the best part is that she keeps going back to it.

This will make a wonderful Christmas or Birthday present.

Probably around this time of year your mind has moved onto Christmas shopping, like mine. This book is genuinely wonderful and both my girls adore playing with it. It arrives in book format, but inside contains a number of pop-out cardboard characters. You start off by reading a story together, and once you've read the story, you can open up the covers to create a fantastically detailed 3D palace! The attention to detail which has gone into this is really wonderful - I'd love to have the flair and imagination of the illustrator.

We've had this kind of book before, and like most it comes with a cardboard wallet to store the pesky bits and pieces in so they don't get lost. I would say that a very young child could possibly break the cardboard structures easily - but my 3 1/2 year old has been very gentle so far.

A really wonderful present to give a little girl in your life.

My Fairytale Dream Palace is a large high-quality hardback pop-up book, which I would say is suitable for girls up to at least ten years old (depends upon the child and their interests, of course).

The product comprises a storybook section and then a pop-up section which opens up to 360 degrees and is tied open into a three-dimensional pop-up palace with an attached ribbon. Since it is made from cardboard very young children are likely to damage it during play but slightly older/careful children will have a wonderful time flexing their imaginations with this (I know that I would have adored it when I was that age). There are a selection of press-out characters to play with/act out the story, one small quibble is that there is a cardboard envelope made into the book in which to store these but it is decidedly flimsy and prone to damage.

A lovely item.

Purchased as a gift, but had a quick look at it "opened" first - Wow! It is a hardback book, the first part is a nice fairy tale story, which introduces the characters. There is a page of cardboard pop outs of the characters, so you actually get figures to play with. Then you open out the pop up palace by bending the hardback covers back to back. There is a ribbon tie to keep it together. Once opened, it is a marvel of cardboard engineering - a full palace, with several rooms, all beautifully detailed. You can use the cardboard figures to play in the palace to make up your own stories. It folds back again to a fairly slim book. Lovely gift, or great to take on holiday.

For the money this is a beautifully produced book. The actual story isn't very long, but the fantastic pop ups more than make up for that. A perfect read for little Princesses everywhere!

As with most pop up books, care must be taken as they are prone to ripping quite easily, so unless your child is light handed, you may want to supervise when reading it!
