This review is from: Into the Cool: Energy Flow, Thermodynamics, And Life (Paperback)
I like the book a lot because it aswers some questions that I have seldom seen asked and that I have never seen answered before. Even though I am a scientist myself.
I must admit it does not read that easily. It is full of references like a scientific article should be.

The long and short of it is that non equilibrium thermodynamics give a mathematical basis to evaluate ecosystem health in a way that no other method will.

But the thought that has struck me a few times while reading is that if more people in power were aware of the findings of this fairly young branch of science is that they would not be so fast in promoting things like hydro fracking and gmo's or the destruction of rain forests.

Please read this book. Highly Recommended for anyone with the question of how life and all the living systems could have originated.
