This is a fantastic book, containing photos from what most Beatles fans will know as the "Mad Day Out" in 1968. Given the rising tensions within the group as they made the White Album, it's surprising that they actively wanted a day of photos such as these to be taken. And given those tensions, it is a joy to see so many of the photos showing The Beatles smiling, clearly enjoying themselves & reviving the camaraderie they'd shared for years. Apart from two introductions, there is a very little text in the book which is a good thing as these photos are brilliant and very few of them have I seen before.
And why a "last farewell to The FaB Four"? After tbese pictures were taken, there were very few photo sessions, and certainly not on this scale. Those from 1969 for example clearly show the simmering disdain they had for each other - in this series of photos, they're clearly having a good degree of fun.
The book is a delight & should grace the shelf of any serious fan of The Beatles.
