Emily Dickinson only had a few poems published in her lifetime, and since then some people have always disputed her greatness. Indeed I don't know anyone close to me who will read her, but then if we all liked the same things life would be boring (like in More's humourous 'Utopia'). Like most people I find poetry deeply personal - it either speaks to you or it doesn't. I find that Dickinson's poems do 'speak' to me, and are a great way to unwind.

There is no getting away from it, but Emily Dickinson is a great of American poetry, and to that end she is taught in schools throughout the US. If you have never read her before then this little book would be an ideal introduction. Containing 207 short verses this is a little treasury of her work, bound in a hardback cover and with its own integral bookmark. This is small enough to easily fit in a pocket and is ideal to carry with you to refer to when you need some inspiration, or have a quiet moment.

Some peole may be put off by her use of dashes, slant rhyme (half rhyme) etc., but she is always well worth reading and you may well find yourself becoming a fan.

Beautifully produced, with a good sample of her poems. Sadly, it missed out a particular poem I was looking for. Nevertheless I will continue to enjoy this book for many years

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful edition, 20 Aug 2012

Lovely edition, with a colour-matching silk ribbon marker and a very pleasing format. The poems are well set-out and the book is a pleasure to hold and to read. A thing of beauty, which also looks lovely without its cover, as it is cloth-bound with golden letters. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful edition, 16 May 2014

Simple, beautiful design and beautifully laid out collection of these breathtaking poems. Love the design and the lack of intro and analysis - which I always find tiresome! Just The Poems! Wonderful.

4.0 out of 5 stars emily dickinson, 14 Feb 2013

Being a Dickinson fan I loved this for its content. The only slightly negative comment would be it's very small size - handy to carry around yes, but because it is so small you somehow don't feel as though you got your moneys worth. If you dont mind this and concerntrate on the content you'll love it.
