The best book on C++ design, and problem areas. He explains in short, concise examples some of the gotcha areas of the language. Everyone who programs in C++ should read this book!

This is probably the best book I've ever read on the subject - clear, consise, not boring. If you are using C++, read it - it's really worth the time you'll spend.

This is an excellent text for those (allegedly) confident with OOP wishing to use C++ safely and effectively. His style is pragmatic entertaining and insightful. Although the approach of breaking it into '50 effective ways' has you flicking backwards and forwards between several sections the insights gained are invaluable. To paraphrase Dogbert 'Always put off meetings with programmers who have not read this book'. The Java equivalent by Josh Bloch is also excellent.

I found it was much more than the coding standards I was using at my work place. Most of the improvements are the sort of thing you'd learn over time and after reading (and actually using) some of strousop's ideas.
Don't get me wrong: it's good for the money, but I suspect some
(prehaps more advanced) programmers may be a little disappointed. I'm glad to have it on my bookshelf: reminds me the _right_ way to do things.

This little 1/2 inch thick book will change your life. It teaches you great habits and tells you what to avoid like the plague. EXTREMELY clear and to the point, the newest edition (2nd) covers (and uses extensively) all the new and great features of the final draft standard. Buy it right now!

The author show his understanding of C++. What is essence of that? It only show that the C++ is a difficult language. How can you show the language is difficult,at the same time, show that C++ is the language of choice.

After a good understanding of everything in the C++ for Dummies book, this book made no sense. Too complicated, assumes you're an expert with years of experience.
