Ok lets see, we have one person complaining that its to hard becuase you must concentrate, another saying its to mathematical. Well I hate to say it, BUT THAT IS THE POINT of this. Computer graphics isn't like 1+1=2. More along the lines of 4(4(3/4 - 1/2)*4)= X. This book presents everything perfectly. A great recommendaiton for anyone 'who wants to learn it' but if your thinking of just a simple, 21 days or don't have time/concentration, don't get this book. I recommend looking into 'other' subjects.

This is a book you can't do without if you're serious. It isn't a 'For Dummies' book, and the content can be almost intractable at points, but this is not an easy subject. Particularly useful if you're trying to design your own algorithms, and an excellent springboard for research.
Specialists in some areas will find the book a good reminder of basic principles, and people intent on reworking the Quake engine in their own image (pardon the pun) will find enough here to keep them busy.
Not for the casual web-designer. Or then again, maybe it is.

This is one of the Books on Computer graphics, for advanced users and with a high mathematical background otherwise you won't do it, this book is saturated of mathematical explanations and theory about computer graphics, so this contains all the theory stuff, if you are looking for a more practical book look for Michael Abrash Black Book...

This book was a required text in a graphics programming course that I did as a part of a Computer Science degree. As an academic text this provides an excellent reference that shall enrich the library of any serious programmer.
If you want to learn how to write Quake using VB, dont bother as this will probably scare you off.
If on the other hand, you want to understand the underlying concepts of modern graphics systems or are after a definitive reference then this is what you want.

I have several works on computer graphics - as well as Google! Initially, I would have rated this book as 'OK'. But the more work I do on computer graphics, the more I find myself turning to this book. It seems to provide the best, simplest and most relevant explanations or algorithms across a very wide range of graphics problems. No library should be without a copy.

If you really know that you *are* a great coder, grasp this book and you will soon be able to code a clone of 3D-Studio MAX that is better than the original. ;-) This book covers all aspects of computer graphics in a very detailed and comprehensive way, if you know how to code. This book is great for reference, not for beginners. To understand it, you should know about some advanced programing methods.

This book is a sweeping summary of computer graphics, both 2D and 3D, and does a pretty complete job of explaining it all. It is, however, getting dated as far as "practice" goes, and does not include any of the popular 3D techniques used in interactive 3D models. The theory and foundation presented is still solid and a must-know for anyone serious about graphics.

Although some of the information on hardware in this book is slowly becoming outdated, nearly all of the algorithms and math are still relevent for today's systems. After two years of using this book, it is still the one and only book in my collection that I can not do without.

A very good book. It may be somewhat dated in coverage of devices, but this sort of material does not represent the meat of the text. More importantly, the book handles theory in a concise and easily understood manner. A+

Great book, some chapters are outdated now but much of the information contained in this book is still relevant today.
