5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive overview of cyber security topics that will teach and entertain you
"Cybersecurity and Cyberwar" by P.W. Singer and Allan Friedman is an interesting book that brings all the latest information related to cyber terms that sound very cool though few people actually know what is going on, and what is just a myth that serves for people entertainment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what everyone needs to know, but a good read in the early parts. Becomes a bit of a chore later on.
Excellent insight into many of the issues surrounding cybersecurity in part 1 that is the bit that "everyone needs to know". The cyberwar element goes quite deep and the latter part of part 2 and early part of part 3 do drag a little - it becomes far from what "everyone needs to know" and more pointed towards strategists and governments, but it's worth...

"Cybersecurity and Cyberwar" by P.W. Singer and Allan Friedman is an interesting book that brings all the latest information related to cyber terms that sound very cool though few people actually know what is going on, and what is just a myth that serves for people entertainment.

Both authors are experts in fields they discuss on their book pages therefore compliments they have already received for this work are not surprising; their work about the cyber world we are living in is easy to read and understand that presents interesting actual facts, together with some anecdotes and trivia that overall results in an well-made and organized book that will both teach and entertain you.

"Cybersecurity and Cyberwar" deals with cyber security matters in a way that it explains how something was made, why it is important to learn about it and when it comes to each of us which are counter measures that can be used to fight cyber villains. Their focus was on providing additional information about the cyber terms that surrounds us such as Stuxnet, questions from where and why computer viruses are coming, who and how is fighting against cyber criminals, how to protect ourselves not to become casualty of cyber war, and many others.

Therefore, Singer and Friedman managed to make a comprehensive overview of cyber security topics that can be advised for reading for all the people interested in these exciting topics that concern all of us, either globally or as regular users while spending much of our time online.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book for a wide audience., 16 Feb. 2014
The subject of Cyber Security can be a little dry at times - however I was pleasantly surprised when I started this book. The great writing style makes the book extremely readable. It assumes very little prior knowledge and explains quite technical aspects in a way that most readers will be able to understand easily.

The book is split into thirds - How it Works, Why it Matters and What can we do. Within these sections the narrative is split into short, interesting topics with numerous real life examples to illustrate the points. I found the discussion about cyber warfare - a difficult topic to find openly discussed - particularly interesting.

If you want to find out about the world of cyber security (and you really should) I can wholeheartedly recommend this book.
