I read this book in under an hour. It is very easy to follow and tells you expactly what you need to know so that you can teach your child to read. It is straight to the point and just tells you what you need to know.

I have taught my son the phonics sounds using Jolly & did not know what to do next. This book has given me the confidence to go ahead and teach him how to sound out words & eventually read.

It shows you how to use its reading scheme where it has letters & words at the beginning of each book for your child to practise before they read the book.

This works really really well. However, you have to buy the phonics cards with this book. The book alone is useless. The cards and book together are so easy to use. I was so please with how my daughter got on with this.

We were advised by a teacher to get this book. We soon discovered that you need the cards too or there is no point to it. Even so, good value and well worth it

Useful if you are not sure about how to say things phonetically but if you have done it before, you do not need this book. Very helpful though to get used to new system.

Really good parents tips, for me to support my son with the phonics method by Gill Munton which is being taught at his school.

I bought this in the hope it would give me ideas on how to help my child, but it's just a little booklet that needs other things in order for it to work. It was no use at all for me and I wouldn't reccomend it!

The book does give guidance on how to use the Ruth Miskin Read Write phonics system. Watching videos of her instructing teachers on how to teach phonics leaves no room for regional or other dialect and I find the illustrations are too grown up and unclear for the age group this product is targeted towards. A personal favourite of mine that supported my visual learners was Letterland. I find this system far too pedantic.

The book is for parents. It is a quick read 20 minutes and explains the system. As others have said it is pretty useless on its own. The majority of the information that is in this book and is on the flash cards. In fact, the book states that there are instructions on the books & flash cards for various activities you may like to undertake with your child. I wouldn't consider this a necessary purchase.

I purchased this for Dad as he was unable to attend the session run by the school and often it is me (Mum) that goes to the parents evenings and the like. As Dad also reads with the children, this book gave some background as to what our daughter is learning at school and how.

My son is learning through this system at school. I bought the book expecting a bit more information to be honest. The price was reasonable enough but I was expecting a guide of how I could back up at home what he was learning at school.
