5.0 out of 5 stars A great read
A brilliant guide for any musician. It really lead me to think differently about how to think about music and how the body plays a part

2.0 out of 5 stars Goes on a bit
A bit too much philosophy for my tastes. If you are practically minded and a bit cynical like me you want to cut to the chase fairly quickly and this book doesn't do that. However, I implemented the "lead with your head" technique and promptly fell over a tree root. Difficult to see what you are stepping on if you are leading with your head, in my experience.

One of the best books on Alexander technique which deals specifically with musicians' needs. Contains much useful insight and practical exercises.

5.0 out of 5 stars fabulous, 15 Aug 2013

Extraordinary, life changing book. Every musician should read this book. Many musicians have Alexander Technique lessons, but Pedro is able to make intelligent connections between music and the Technique which others haven't.

2.0 out of 5 stars Misleading Intro, 7 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Indirect Procedures: A Musician's Guide to the Alexander Technique (The Integrated Musician) (Paperback)
I read the sample pages on amazon which seemed good. The intro stated this new edition was for a general audience and musician related material would be confined to one chapter only. In reality every chapter and nearly every page is for musicians. So the intro was false. Secondly the book is written in longwinded prose which drowns out the little useful information it does have.

There is some valuable knowledge but it is not presented in a clear, accessible fashion. The author seems to have too much to write with little to say.
