This book is about a study done over 3 years 1991 to 1993 by a couple Carol and Joel and their toddler daughter. They go into the deserts of Africa to study the effects of dehorning on black rhinos and find some intersting findings, however they are no longer allowed to continue their study by 1994 as Namibia find their findings contraversal. Overall this was an enjoable read, however I have given it 3 stars out of 5 as the beginning and end of the book was really good keeping my attention however it dragged slightly in the middle. Also this is only based on a 3 year study and although their findings were suprising they were obviously limited. Also there are photos in the middle pages of the book, quite a few per page so very small photos and they are in black and white and most of them very poor quality that you are unable to see them properly. For example one photo is of a mother rhino and her calf but you cannot see the calf in the photo. Nevertheless worth a read if you are interested in conservation and reading of the true struggles real dedicated people have faced out in the field.
