A useful definitive edition of The Bible.
on 7 May 2011
I bought this because I wanted a modern translation that included both Old and New Testaments. Not being familiar with the books of the Apocrypha I regarded them as a bonus. I still do; but I now understand why the scholars of the King James (Authorised) version of 1611 decided to omit them as, although they are of considerable historical interest, they add little to ones understanding of religion.
The edition itself is well presented and clearly printed. While the page headers and the footnotes are useful and informative, a short introductory paragraph to each book such as is included in many other versions would be a useful addition.
I recommend this as a useful addition to anyone's bookshelf. Pity they use the american spelling of angicisi(z)e.
