I don't know if it was because I was unlucky enough to buy the American edition & not the English one but apart from a few names here and there I never had the feeling of being in Istanbul. On the contrary, I felt that I could have been anywhere in the USA. The previous books in this series have been fun but this one has absolutely nothing worth praising and the feeling of being somewhere in the USA simply makes it worse. If the characters are Turkish and the setting is Turkey then the reader should feel himself to be in Turkey. As far as the plot is concerned it is contrived and the author bringing himself into the story does nothing to ease that situation. It is often said that you are only as good as your last success. After reading this book, it is unlikely that I will read any others.
