At 16 Morgan's life is shattering. She is reading her mothers book of shadows and finds out that her birth parents are from the evil clan, Woodbane. Morgan wants to find out more but there isn't time for that. Her and Cals relationship is growing. Her best friend, Bree has abandoned her, Morgans adoptive family can't accept that she has powers and then two witches are in town all of a sudden. These witches are Sky and Hunter.
Hunter claims that he is Cals half brother and that Cal is practising dark magick and is using her to get to her powerful powers. This hurts Morgan and she tries to ignore it, but something isn't right, and she can feel it. Who should she trust Cal or Hunter.....
This is a topbook and i am sure anyone who is intrested in wicca or is over 11 would enjoy it. If you have read the first two books before this, this is a must.

Morgan Rowlands now knows that she is a blood witch and through realising her power has found a new life and new love. But while Morgan thinks she knows all there is to know about her past, she is mistaken and the discovery of her birth mother's Book of Shadows stands to reveal more than ever. This combined with the arrival of two English witches in town threatens to destroy the balance Morgan thought she had found.

This is the third book in the awesome Wicca/Sweep series (after Book of Shadows and The Coven) and, like the last novel, continues directly on from the previous installment. A new conflict is introduced with the arrival of two English witches (Hunter and Sky) and a second coven setting up in Widows Vale. There is also a mystery element introduced with Hunter and what is relationship to Cal really is. This time the journal entries are from the perspectives of Sgath (in the present) and Giomanach (from the past) which supports the mystery aspect well.

Morgan continues to grow in confidence in this book, beginning to stand up to authority figures and state her own opinions clearly. Her relationship with Cal deepens and is beautifully written. The two new witches in town add another dimension to this book. Morgan dislikes Sky from the beginning and is jealous of her, but it is Hunter who she has an extreme reaction to. Morgan's magick also continues to evolve with her spending more time exploring different techniques like herbs and runes.

The other coven members continue to grow in their own right with more of a focus on the relationships between Sharon and Ethan and Jenna and Matt. Robbie spends more time with Morgan which allows a view to what Bree is doing away from Morgan. A great focus is given to Morgan's sister Mary K who is in a difficult relationship with an overly pushy boyfriend adding a touch of reality to the storyline.

All in all, this was another incredible read and I can't wait to get stuck into Dark Magick.

All 15 books in this series are fantasic, once you pick them up you won't want to put them down until you have read every last one. I recommended them to my husbands younger sister (she is 12) and a very 'reluctant reader'. Upon reading the first one she was hooked and sped through the rest of the series in a matter of weeks.

These books on the whole portray an accurate depiction as what being wiccan is about. There is abviously some artisic license, as what work of fiction would be complete without it. I myself have lived as a practicing witch for 9 years and found the descriptions of the festivals ect to be very accurate.

As an older reader, i am not usually in to the whole magic scene but this book gripped me from the start and i coudnt put it down myself!!! i dont think i have ever ready a series this long that has kept me interested all the way through! My heart was racing and it always kept my mind stimulated trying to work out who was good and who was evil! If felt like i was really there and that is a rare and special encounter! Some of the best books i have ever read and have recommended them to all of my friends!

This book is brilliant. It is my favourite out of the first 3 books. Like the other books it is really well writen and leaves you wanting to know what happens next, I couldn't put it down. The ending is so good you can't not read the next book. As soon as i had finished this book i went out and brought the next one.

This is my fave out of the Sweep series. It is so American, and damn good! The info on Wicca is excellent and Cate Tiernan writes an excellent piece of work. Sweep:4 is brill too. But no.3 is just excellent. A few turning points for some of the characters, Morgan, Cal etc. Love this book!

Reading the series that includes this book has brought me back to a world i missed. I haven't read a book that has keep me this interested in a couple months and I am very pleased with the description in the book and reference to magick.

I have read this and the two books before it, (Book of shadows and the coven) in three days. I just could not put them down. They are so good and give begginers an onlook into the craft. I have only one problem with the book and thats that they do make witch craft seem a bit like the Sabrina the teenage witch version of the modern wiccan. But luckily its not that bad so all round its a very good book! I can wait for the next to be released
