This collection is highly entertaining if slightly uneven in quality. Well known as a poet, Graves also wrote a huge quantity of prose. Some of these stories are very good, others somehow snuck through quality control, but the crowning glory on offer here is The Shout, a piece which deserves to be better known and is right up there among the outstanding tales of the uncanny in the english language.
Recommended for anyone who wants a collected stories to dip into now again and which will keep you entertained.

I hiked through the Mountains of Majorca , Spain with Robert Graves and enjoyed his stories very much . He was a great companion and I would not hesitate to go with him again , anytime . . . JpdeE.
