So so disappointed (spoilers within)
on 13 June 2016
Honestly, the worst Lesley Pearse novel I've read yet. I usually love her writing and become so captivated by every character she writes about, yet with the second half of this it seemed so rushed and ended too quickly for any real resolution to be made amongst the characters. On top of that, the protagonist's decision at the end of the novel was shocking and seemed to not fit in with the usual style of Pearse, the fact that Ross was expected to recover from his breakdown surrounding admitting his rape as a child was hideous - though probably a view at the time Pearse does not even write for us to empathise with him and to be honest it just made me really angry. Adore her other books, have read and reread Never Look Back and the Belle trilogy three times each but wouldn't recommend this one.
