This review is from: Arctic Labyrinth: The Quest for the Northwest Passage (Paperback)
For anyone interested in pre-twentieth century Arctic exploration, particularly from Elizabethan to Victorian times, this book serves as a superb overview of the search for the North West passage. Covers the voyages of exploration from the earliest (Frobisher, Hudson etc.) to the great age of British Victorian naval expeditions (Parry, Ross etc.) and the overland journeys (Hearne, Rae etc). Gives background and context and helps to place Franklin and the search for Franklin into the larger picture. Very readable and not dry at all, this is clearly a labour of love and is thoroughly recommended.
