Good book to dig in at bedtime.I like to read a little before sleep and this is perfect. Does not define snoring though!!

Excellent language tool. Very easy to read too, which means it can be kept on a bedside table for late-night browsing :).

Just perfect, couldn't be better, it was the choice of a relative for a gift. Supplied in time without problems.

Basically, a glorified dictionary. Not a "read". More of a reference book. Great diappointment after "Mother Tongue", which is brilliant - informative and very entertaining.

Love it.... though wish I had never bought it.... never realised how inadequate my use of the language was!!

Haven't had time to get into this yet, but it promises to be an interesting read. Hoping to learn a lot.

not exactly a 'reading book', more of a reference book but very interesting and I learnt a lot from it.

I love everything this man writes, can't get enough of him I think we have the same sense of humour.

Not quite the humourous book I expected, a cross between a dictionary and a book on grammar.

This is definitely a book to dip into at infrequent intervals rather than read from cover to cover. It is laid out like a dictionary which is perhaps what makes it rather "bitty". "Mother Tongue" is a much better read for those who want an insight into the English language.
