5.0 out of 5 stars ~Dry Erase Version is available - can learn to write the days of the week
I like this book - simple, direct, colourful, witty, all the hallmarks of Eric Carle. However I bought the version with Dry Erase Pen and I am glad I did because I was able to teach to read/write the days of the week.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar likewise teaches the days of the week (and so much more, its a profound book) but this focuses more on the meaning of...

2.0 out of 5 stars Based on the song "Today is Monday"
A classroom favourite for reinforcing the days of the week. It is suitable for young children and those learning to read. They enjoy the large, colourful, vivid illustrations that...

I like this book - simple, direct, colourful, witty, all the hallmarks of Eric Carle. However I bought the version with Dry Erase Pen and I am glad I did because I was able to teach to read/write the days of the week.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar likewise teaches the days of the week (and so much more, its a profound book) but this focuses more on the meaning of "today" and how days contain events. Good for 3+. Can say to child for instance "Cat did x on Monday, today is Monday, what did we do today?

Obviously effective if you use in conjunction with a simple calendar (there are many free downloads on the internet).
