Having seen this on tv, I'm ashamed to say I've never read this before.
I was gripped from the start.
The characters are both sad yet interesting and even Pip seems unlikeably selfish at times.
The drama never stops and you leave the book wanting more.

Despite numerous TV adaptations nothing beats actually reading this. One of Mr Dickens' last novels and one of his best. Engaging and gripping yet also Humorous this is an ideal introduction to the work of arguably the most talented novelist of his generation.

I've always considered this my favourite work by Dickens. And that's not easy considering all his great books. Every time I re-read Great Expectations something new is illuminated and I marvel afresh at Dickens' mastery of storytelling. A truly great story.

Had to buy this for my daughter as part of her collection.
The 'clothbound classics' are a great read, super value and look beautiful in your bookcase.
Would recommend these classics to anyone interested in stories that stand the test of time.

I read it at school 50 years ago, and decided to re-read it. Apart from some strange dialogue sections, (strange to modern ears) it was well worth it. It makes you realise how much of the story is missed out in film interpretations even by David Lean.

This e-book was purchased for our GCSE and A-level students to study as part of their exam. It is very useful to have this book to have on the Kindles we have in school. Dickens is a classic writer and one that will always be valued in Literature.

A perennial masterpiece. An intriguing tale, tantalisingly told and set in a world at times grim and ugly, at times joyful and beautiful, where human nature is seen at its best and its worst and where tender love survives in all its radiance.

Dickens is a fabulous writer and great expectations is a fabulous book. If you've not read the book yet and only seen adaptations then you're in for a real treat. If you've read it before and would like to reread it then I highly recommend it!

If you aren't familiar with Dickens then this is a good place to start. A solid story and some great characters. Inevitably the writing style is not to every modern reader's taste but as an insight into human behaviour it is well worth a read.
