5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most rewarding books you will ever read
Of Mice And Men is truly a special piece of literature that seems so simple whilst you are reading it but at the same time deals with a lot of complicated issues which all of us have to deal with at some point in our lives.
Its a story of two friends, Lennie and George, who wander from town to town looking for work in order to raise the capital to one day settle down...

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS ON KINDLE
There is something very wrong about this book. I can't tell if the story is any good or not but it certainly hasn't been proof read. There are no chapters dividing the book. 68% into the book and the page is repeated twice. At the end of the page it describes Crooks's room and then goes straight into dialogue on the next page. The same thing happens about three pages...

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent insight into the real 1937 American Dream, 2 Sep 2000

Mr. J. W. Caldwell "silverstream" (Northern Ireland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Of Mice and Men (Paperback)
The book is set in 1937 and is based around 2 men who have the Amercian dream. This is excellent as it give a true picture of the Amercian dream. Of Mice and Men deal with the real issues, ie. discrimination and is set true to the time. Lennie and George are the two main characters. lennie has a "thing about pink rabbits". Lennie is an immature man, but he has physical strength. George on the other hand is the brains of two he is the one who has control of the set up ...
I also came across this book when studing GCSE English Literature. I have enjoyed reading the book and would advise anyone to read the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A few hours reading this is not a few hours wasted..., 8 Jun 2000

This was also my GCSE text and I'm glad I didn't have to study anything else. It is deeply moving (I read it over six times as revision and I cried at the ending every time) yet highly entertaining and thought-provoking. It made me go out and read Grapes of Wrath...can it possibly be better?

I am studying this book for GCSE, and it is so real life it will capture any reader. Set in the American Great Depression, all the characters are so life like it appears as though it is a genuine true story.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book if you want literature, fun, and humour,, 16 Nov 1999

I read this book in my English class and must say, it's excellant. You can read this at a lot of different ages; each time you will see another aspect to this well-thought-out novel. The novel is about two very different men who live in their own dream world; they imagine having a home, making more money, having freedom, just being somewhere where you cannot just get "canned". Again, two thumbs up to this story!

5.0 out of 5 stars A powerfull moving short story, 18 Feb 1999
By A Customer
An incredibly powerfull yet simple story of loneliness. Of Mice and Men touches the very soul of the reader as you are drawn through a story as tight as ball of steel. Every event is an echo of the inevitable ending and not a word is wasted.
It's a difficult thing to describe a book as perfect but this is as close as it gets for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most brilliant book I've ever read, 12 Jan 1999
By A Customer
This book is simply magnificnet. The author wastes no time in portraying to us the subtletities of a world long gone. The book is littered with superb concealed symbolism and works on mnay levels. The story is are touching, the characterisation brilliant, the dialogue crisp and real. For such a short book, it deserves any award ever invented.

4.0 out of 5 stars Scoring no.6 on America's most contraversial books ever written, 2 Aug 2007
A good read. I particularly liked the chapter in which Steinbeck uses a form of magic realism to portray a rather surreal description Lennie's emotions. A classic indeed.
