5.0 out of 5 stars A thoughtful and moving account of a therapists odyssey., 30 Nov 1999
This review is from: The Man Who Loved a Polar Bear and Other Psychotherapist's Tales (Paperback)
A psychoanalyst in his twilight years is compelled to find out how some of his favourite (and probably weirdest) patients have fared since they left therapy. Not surprisingly he discovers as much about himself as the patients. This moving thoughtful and often funny series of tales in the vein of Irvind D.Yaloms "Love's Executioner" shows how life is stranger than fiction. Akeret's consideration of the pitfalls and perils of therapy as well as the successes brings balance to the journey and gives the book an appeal to those who've never ventured near the dreaded couch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reality is stranger than fiction, 30 May 2001
This review is from: The Man Who Loved a Polar Bear and Other Psychotherapist's Tales (Paperback)
Picked up the book whilst doing a night duty, just for something to read! Couldn't put it down. Comical yet real; as the author learnt about himself so did I. Worth staying up all night just to read it!
