5.0 out of 5 stars ESSENTIAL FOR ALL MANAGERS INTERESTED IN GETTING HIGH QUALITY DATA, 11 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Executing Data Quality Projects: Ten Steps to Quality Data and Trusted Information (Paperback)
Danette's book is seriously one of the best books on the market on data quality, a must have!

I have read most of the other books on data quality as part of my PhD at Cambridge University, but this is the one you should get. It is perfectly organized, easily understandable and absolutely practice proven. It covers key concepts and hands on techniques that can be directly applied and do not require any previous knowledge or IT know how. You do not need to be involved in a data quality project to find this book useful, the concepts and techniques can be easily integrated into other types of projects or your everyday business activities. I am using Danette's book every time when I am working with industry and it has never failed me, everything works.

If you are also interested in more technical issues regarding data quality, I can also advise you to read David Loshin's The Practitioner's Guide to Data Quality Improvement, which complements Danette's book very well.

High quality data is key for the success of any company today. Big data and business analytics are top on the agenda of most executives. Understanding how to make sure that high quality data is available has therefore become a business issue that is relevant for every manager. I highly recommend every data and business manager to read this important book by Danette McGilvray,

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect book for Information Quality Do-ers., 7 Oct 2008
This review is from: Executing Data Quality Projects: Ten Steps to Quality Data and Trusted Information (Paperback)
Danette McGilvray is one of the leading thinkers and doers in the field of Information Quality. This book represents a perfect addition to the arsenal of anyone working on information quality improvement projects (which it should be noted often go by other names).

Why is this a perfect addition? Because, unlike other books on the subject Danette presents her approach in a manner that can be readily integrated with existing project management approaches and which is 100% focussed on practical applications of proven techniques.

The book is so good, I bought a copy to give to my boss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Executing Data Quality Projects, 9 Oct 2010
This review is from: Executing Data Quality Projects: Ten Steps to Quality Data and Trusted Information (Paperback)
"Executing Data Quality Projects" is well-written and easy to use ... basically it does what it says on the tin!

Although I haven't finished the book yet, I am finding that it strikes the right balance between theory and practice. The 10 steps are common sense, but it is the real-life experiences of the author that have made it my DQ bible. What's more, some of the tools are available online which has been useful.

Finally, I am still on my DQ journey and I reference "Executing Data Quality Projects" on a daily basis.
