5.0 out of 5 stars Fire in the Book
Perfect for making a fire when camping. You just rip the pages out, set them down and set them on fire, it works like a charm.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh My! What a pile of discarded panties
Oh My, I mean really, Oh my, oh my, oh my......No readers, I have not just been whipped (pardon the pun) into a bosom heaving wreck by the size of my partner's "impressive length". I have in fact, just dragged myself through to the final page of this ludicrous nonsense and found myself almost speechless. Almost...

The main character, Christian Grey, is quite...

1.0 out of 5 stars Really?, 7 Aug 2012
By
Bookmyster81 (london, england) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fifty Shades of Grey (Paperback)
You know I never like to judge a book before reading so that's what I did. Now I wish I hadnt. What a load of tosh!!

Seriously, this is twilight without vampires with non stop sex. That's it. Oh and let's throw in some (extremely tame) bdsm for good measure to make bored housewives think they are risqué for having a pair of handcuffs. Pur-lease.

Ana is a remarkable virgin who apparently has never masterbated yet can orgasm at the drop of a hat or spoken word, not to mention her convenient non-existent gag reflex, she can perform like a porn star on her first try. Christian is perfect looking and like the energiser bunny. He just never gets tired! He isn't even put off by her monthly cycle. Gross.

She falls in love in five mins, Christian of course has to be damaged to be into kinky stuff, which really ticked me off. Both characters call him not 'normal' for his tastes. Excuse me, judgmental much. It's like the author just skimmed the Internet and gleaned what she could of the lifestyle. It's pathetic.

This is not romantic, a turn on or well written. I seriously cannot believe all the hype over it. I shall be skipping reading the rest of the trilogy. Save your money. If you must read, borrow it.

3.0 out of 5 stars grey is the right colour, 7 Aug 2012

This review is from: Fifty Shades of Grey (Paperback)
50 shades of grey is a pretty poor attempt at a first novel. It's not well written and the content is very samey and gets boring halfway through. The next 2 in the series my be better, but I'm not sure whether I want to spend another £3.99 finding out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh My - What A Load Of Rubbish!, 7 Aug 2012
I can't remember the last time I read such a rubbish book. The writing is poor, the story is boring, the sex is repetitive & unrealistic & the continous e-mail correspondance is ridiculous. It's basically an X Rated Mills & Boon, but fluffed out with repeated showings of "the contract" & long un-neccesary emails complete with full sender & recipient details every time. Complete waste of time- i hope that by writing this review I can discourage others from wasting their time too.

Not sure what all the hype is about seeing that I am only half way through the book and have not picked it up to continue to finish it.

It's ok, maybe I haven't reached the best bits yet.

2.0 out of 5 stars 50shades of grey more like 50shades of over hype!, 7 Aug 2012
This review is from: Fifty Shades of Grey (Paperback)
I'm quite young so I was expecting this books to be quite different to what they turned out to be, I found these books poorly written and very repetative , the same scenarios are repeated all the time through out the trilogy and the story lines involved reach to a climax then go ... No where! The character of christen grey was the only thing that kept me reading I had to find out about his tortured past but throughout these books they kept hinting to something more and then their was nothing if anything the author made it seem like their was going to be something massive in his past as a child but then their wasn't anything different to what we already knew! These books have been over hyped and made to seem more scandalous then they actually are!

1.0 out of 5 stars over rated, 6 Aug 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Fifty Shades of Grey (Paperback)
Everyone I spoke to rated this as one of the best books they've read in ages; personally I found it really lame! Take out the sex and it's a pretty immature book which would maybe appeal to 15 year old girls!! Very repetitive and lame story line. Perhaps it will translate to film a little better!! I couldn't buy into the characters, way too cliché and obvious to make them interesting, so stereo typical it was insulting

2.0 out of 5 stars fifty shades of grey, 6 Aug 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Despite all the hype and many friends raving over this book I am almost embarrassed to admit that I found it totally boring.
I thought Jilly Coopers Riders was more erotic and definitely made me care about the characters more than this weary tome where even the sex scenes get repetive........give me a good thriller any day but I wont be subscribing to the other two books in this trilogy.

1.0 out of 5 stars After all the hype!!!, 6 Aug 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well I finally gave in after all the hype, and all my work colleagues spending endless lunch-times chatting about this book!

I tried and tried to like it......I kept reading it because my colleagues insisted there was a story-line involved! Well I got to the end and never found a story line! It's purely one sad and sadistic man taking advantage of a sexually in-experienced young woman in my opinion!! It's VERY graphic.......and I'm NOT a prude, but found it un-necessary!
Will I be reading the other two books in the trilogy? I wouldn't waste my time or money!

This review is from: Fifty Shades of Grey (Paperback)
I bought this book to see what all the fuss was about. I wish I hadn't bothered. It was badly written, repetative and boring. I still haven't finished it and I don't suppose I will. Certainly won't be buying the other two books. Just started reading latest Victoria Hislop, The Thread. Much better writer and certainly not boring.
