I got to know the existence of this book (Smoking Ears and Screaming Teeth authored by Trevor Norton) in a book review on a Japanese newspaper's book review column as a book translated into Japanese language and then I decided to purchase this book in original English version.
The contents are really very intriguing writing about hitory of medical experiments undertaken by pioneers risking sometimes the health of him/her-self or of close family members.
In the early part of the book, remark was made rightly on Dr. Seishu HANAOKA as a Japanese pioneer on anesthetics.
This citation was somewhat surprising to me and was quite impressed by the author's profound knowledge in the matter he reviewed in his book with horizen extended exceeding Europe.
I wish this book is read by wider spectrum of readers besides young medical students starting their career as the reference book of their morale standard.
