4.0 out of 5 stars Good fun, 11 May 2005
This review is from: Dinosaur Time (Paperback)
This is an excellent children's story following Tom playing with a kitchen timer (against his mother's instructions) and embarking on a prehistoric adventure with a selection of dinosaurs.
On one level it is beautifully illustrated but I think that the author misses a trick - the dinosaur species are not named and the illustrations are too stylised to be easily recognised by the target audience. I think that the main dinosaur is a triceratops but it actually looks more like a rhinoceros. I think that this significantly detracted from my dinosaur obsessed son's (4) enjoyment of the book as part of the pleasure is recognising the dinosaur and knowing its name.
Despite this caveat this is still a very good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for 4-5 year olds, especially boys, 27 July 2003

This review is from: Dinosaur Time (Hardcover)
Simple, effective tale of a boy left by his mum to play with a new kitchen timer that takes him back to the dinosaurs....expertly drawn with the right mix (for my five year old) of implied threat/danger and friendly faces....with a neat, imaginative twist on the last page, that helps kids invent a sequel....

5.0 out of 5 stars Add to your dinosaur book collection ages 3-6, 4 Dec. 2007
This review is from: Dinosaur Time (Paperback)
A lovely story where Tom is transported back to Dinossaur time, and accidentally brings back an egg to his own time ...there is a neat twist at the end and my son loved the facial expressions of the baby dinosaur when he finds himself in Tom's shed. The quality of the illustrations are what you expect from Michael Foreman, although I do agree with a previous reveiwer my dinosaur mad son was a little bit disappointed to not be able to name the dinosaurs for sure. However I wouldn't let this put you off purchasing this book as overall the quality of the story and illustrations certainly compensate.
