2.0 out of 5 stars Book disappointing
Thought the paper cuts would be more interesting. So very disappointed with the art work. Bought it for an adult as a present.I got it wrong. Has been given away and I am sure this book will tick other peoples boxes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 11 Feb. 2014

Wonderful book with an imaginative, touching story of a little Prince growing up in a huge cold palace, emotionally distant from busy parents, the king and queen, who has to find his own happiness in his overprivileged, but under loved world.

He finds friendship with the kind Bootman of the palace who takes him under his wing.
Then one lonely night he sees a hole in the canopy above his bed...

Go on journies with him and see what the little Prince discovers of the ordinary world outside the palace ...

Wonderlully illustrated first book of a trillogy by Rob Ryan. Very detailed and extremely evocative pictures, some dark and broody, exactly capturing the feelings of the little Prince in the large lonely world of the palace without hugs.

The book is a large one too at 32.5 x 23.5cm.

Take off the beautiful cover of the book and see whats on the other side...
Children and adults alike will enjoy this thoughtful book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for children, 28 Jan. 2014

Was meant as a Christmas present for a 9 year old who enjoys reading but after reading a few pages myself, I decided that the atmosphere of the book was too morose for a children's story . It seemed like the book was just a means to showcase the authors talents as an artist and skilful storyteller but it didn't take into account the mind of a young person reading the story. The book is still taking up space in my wardrobe unfortunately.
