I went to the live show that spawned this book.

Enjoyed the book and it was nice to get an overview of all the policies that could exist if this manifesto ever got into the hands of someone not afraid to use it.

Worth a read, very funny in places, maybe too short, but that's just because I was enjoying it so much.

Finished reading it while flying home from Turkey, the people next to me must have thought I was having some sort of attack as I tried to hold in the laughter so as not to look like a complete loony.

I enjoyed the radio show and the book contains the best bits plus more of the same. It's a simple idea but with hilarious results. From darn right silly to down to earth common sense it's all enjoyable. Mark can be a little too left of centre for some but he's a comedian, a good entertainer and thus not to be taken too seriously. Great stuff

A bit lightweight going by his usual output.

...in such a long, long time. This is a brilliant book and everyone deserves a copy. If politics was this fun, everyone would want to be an MP for free.

This is a short book that after a brief introduction simply lists out the forty policies, each with a one to four page summary of the rationale for its inclusion in the People's Manifesto. Like his stage act, Thomas blends serious argument with humour to make each case, and I laughed several times as I worked my way through. Whilst I was lukewarm to many of the proposed policies there were some that I think are worth exploring in more detail. My major gripe is that the book is too short. Much, much too short. A small format book, it only takes an hour or so to whisk through it, and all of the entries would have benefited from further explication as they all offered loads of opportunity for a more detailed analysis and satire. Basically, I wanted more! More about the shows, more about the policies that made it into the book, and more about the ones that didn't. Otherwise an amusing way to pass an hour and get a dose of political sensibilities.

Having seen this show in Aberdeen, I may be a shade biased on the quality of this book. Sadly, none of my numerous policy ideas made it to the vote, never mind the book, though it's heartening to learn that others suggested marriage equality irrespective of sexual orientation.

The book, as Mark Thomas' other books and work are, is entertaining and informative, as well as well-researched. Who knew that so many people hate the Daily Mail that much??
