This is a lovely hardback book which will sit well alongside your other cook books. The author goes through each herb in turn giving a description of the plant, its history in cooking, its main uses, medicinal properties and finally recipes. And there are some interesting recipes: Lavender Butter anyone? How about Thyme souffle? The author's chapter on Nasturtiums...

The book looks nice and is a great idea but unfortunately does not deliver.

The recipes are unoriginal and disappointing. For example,one of the 'recipes' using caraway is to make regular roast potatoes .... with caraway seeds on them!

If you want an attractive coffee table book then this is that. If, however, you are looking for a book on cooking...

A wonderful book, drawings by Jekka's daughter are a delight. Some unusual recipes and good advice on how to store herbs for winter use. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys cooking with herbs

This book is essential for anyone who enjoys growing and or using culinary herbs. There are some fifty herbs listed, each one beautifully illustrated in colour. The book is easy to use as the herbs are listed alphabetically and for each one there is a brief history, information on growing, harvesting and preserving along with recipes for their use. I bought this book because I wanted to start a herb garden, which I have done, and it has proved invaluable. This is a book you will enjoy reading.

I love this book. It has great recipes, is easy to follow and gives me lots of ideas on how to use lesser known herbs with more confidence. Great descriptions and information on herbs and especially storing them.Jekka truly is the queen of herbs.
