Really, Erica Mawsitsit is very mean in awarding this book just 2 stars. As she says herself, if you don't know too much about Burma then it's the book for you. I have read it myself. What makes it work is exactly that Mr Wintle gives us all the background to Aung San Suu Kyi's political career. If he dwells upon the life of her assassinated father Aung San, then that too is appropriate. The daughter cannot be understood without knowing about her dad. And there is so much detail about Aung San Suu Kyi's life as well! Perhaps Ms Mawsitsit knows everything there is to know, but for us ordinary folk Mr Wintle is a godsend. So just to restore some balance I give it 5 stars.

Mr. Pram, I do not like to be called "very mean" just because I am not the same opinion you are. I think you have taken my review very personally for whatever reason. You can have your opinion on the book and even like it (as seems to be the case),it is perfectly fine with me. But insult me, just because I am of other opinion than you, this I can not accept.
