This review is strictly about the collection itself and not the content which is of course excellent. The theme of the omnibus is collected stories, extracts and nuggets of P.G. Wodehouse where a clergyman is included in the tale. An interesting theme one might say and when compiling the collection the complier went straight for the Mulliner series and certain other stories mainly taken from 'The Inimitable Jeeves'. This makes up for the first 190 pages out of 236. The problem is though if you have bought the excellent Jeeves Omnibuses by the same publisher 4 of the 15 stories you've already got.

Then the real flaws start as there follows "extracts" mainly from Jeeves and Uncle Fred series. An example of such an "extract" is 4 pages worth of material extracted from 'The Mating Season' - included simply because there is a scene involving a member of the cloth. It then gets worse as there are two pages of "nuggets" (Quotations in reality) which are the odd paragraph or couple of sentences.

The compilation leaves you with a sense of frustration and looking for the answer to one simple question - why? It is almost as if the compiler convinced his boss at the publisher what a great theme this was and then when actually putting it together realized ..... er there isn't actually that much Wodehouse based around the clergy so anyway let's throw in some extracts and nuggets to fill out the pages.

So it is worth it. Short answer No if you have the Jeeves omnibuses. If you don't and this is your entry into Wodehouse the answer is Yes because the writing and entertainment you will get from it will make my review above completely irrelevant.
