This is a well-written book, and the authors clearly have a vast amount of experience in the areas of business development and e-commerce.
Their advice is sound, but often hard to follow. They highlight that businesses often don't know how to use their information properly, and they even give some ideas as to how to resolve this. But ideas on how to resolve a problem don't help if you don't have the budget to draft in agencies or contractors to complete the work required.
This is a book by strategists, for strategists. So while there are plenty of ideas here for the small businessperson, they are of limited use to someone who isn't also a highly skilled database programmer and business strategist themselves.
To its credit, this book is packed with real world examples of the principles put into use by big name companies such as American Express. These alone demonstrate that the theories are sound, and provide a lot of food of thought.
