2.0 out of 5 stars brearley myers : principles of corporate finance

As an Economics and finance student i have found this book extremely usefull at an undergraduate and postgraduate level of education. The text works on many levels; giving a basic explanatiion of financial issues right through to a rigorous and in-depth discussion of the topics. The ample use of diagrams and numerical examples really add clarity to the financial issues discussd. The text achieves focus upon financial issues that are key in the modern financial world and hence covers exactly the topics which will appear in any finance based course.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great basic text, 4 Aug. 2005
By A Customer
This is an excellent text for basic business school finance. The emphasis the below review places on americanised jargon is misplaced in my opinion - unless your idea of global business does not extend beyond the City of London. All terms are pretty clear and understandable and the text is sure to give you a sound basis for business economics. Recommend.

The main book is rather wordy you feel they could have said what they were trying to explain in 5 pages in like a sentance. The Other MAJOR failing is that it refers to large chunks of specifically American business terminology and jargon, without translating what the English terminology. Some of terms are indeed either the same or obviously simular some are VERY VERY DIFFERENT. Which for UK business students ensures anything you do learn from this book you will not be able to relate to any existing knowledge.
The workbook is better but suffers the same jargon assumptions, and occaisionaly over simplifys, and misses out crucial details of the theorys.
