"The World is Round" by Gertrude Stein is an excellent book for children in which adults will equally enjoy.

Its main character is young girl named Rose, who is six years old and lives with her parents and their dog.
The author would take us into the story about adventures Rose is having with two dogs, her own and her neighbors', but also adventures in which her cousin Willie who is same age is participating together with Rose...

This edition of "The World is Round" that was released few days ago is the replica of the original 1939 edition; on first glance it's an simple story about a girl and a chair, not too long and can be read in less than 60 minutes.

But when you start thinking about it, the reader will realize that this is a much more serious book about self-determination, about meaning to be human, about search for fulfillment (sometimes unsuccessful) and finding our own place in the world...

Therefore this is a story that adults can read alone or with their kids, and it's not surprising that 75 years after it was first released still manages to evoke a series of emotions in the reader.
Gertrude Stein managed to show world looking through the child's eyes using her great writing style and therefore your child could be recommended to read her masterpiece...
