To be honest, I knew more about roses than I ever wanted to after reading the first part of this book. I was beginning to think I was reading a gardening book. It did evolve into a fairly decent story, if a little on the predictable side. I've read quite a few of Barbara Michaels' books and enjoyed most of them, but I don't think this is one of her best.

This is one of my most favourite B. Michaels. Story is beautifully written, very atmospheric with an unusual twist. Highly recommend. A young lady goes undercover to investigate the disappearance of her brother. The heroines character is a little different from the usual B.M heroines. This book has both melancholy and humour and offers a great reflection on human behaviour.
