Don't give up the day job, Richie.
on 17 February 2006
As a fan of Nicole's quirky style and humour, I was left totally disappointed by her first 'novel'. As other reviewers have commented, the plot is flimsy, the characters are weak, self-obsessed and unlikable (including Nicole and her alter-ego Chloe). When reading this book, you're not really sure who you should be rooting for, if anyone. This makes the book a chore to read.
What also makes this book hard to stomach are the teenage-style language used, and the nauseating phrases. Richie uses such imaginative languare as 'stinky' to describe here nasty boyfriend, and our 'heroine' uses phrases such as:
"I may not be judemental, but I can judge mentals."
without a hint of irony, or humour. This book is tacky in every possible way.
