I was kept on edge through out and what a relief after the prototype was submitted ...at last Adam and Max were free to leave and love?

The sexy/dangerous of the title is Maxine 'Max' Blake a security agent who is assigned to protect Scientist Dr Adam Gary. She expects Gary to be a skinny bespeckled geek, but he is anything but. He turns out to be gorgeous and far from helpless as he has to foil an attempted kidnapping attempt after a conference when he tells the world that he is working on an energy source which could solve the world's dependence on fossil fuels.

Adam makes it clear he doesn't want Max or her two dobermann assistants messing up his orderly life and he's not sure he wants a woman watching his back. He's more than a little unsettled by his unwanted attraction to a woman who knows at least '20 ways to kill a man'.

It's nice to see the genre of the scentist being protected by the big bad former marine turned on its head when the ex marine is female and it's the male scientist who has to be protected. It is especially interesting to see this type of romace with black characters, and I can't get enough of Jenkins trademark verbal banter and heat. If you love her historical romances this contemporary won't disappoint.
