This dictionary is avowedly for the Bengali-speaking market. Still it is a shame that the chance was missed to make it equally attractive and useful to the large potential market of English speakers with an interest in the language of Tagore, and heritage Bengali and Sylheti speakers who lack total confidence in written Bengali. Unfortunately there is no phonetic pronunciation guide for Bengali entries, not even an alphabet page, let alone shortcut pages listing numbers, days and months and common greetings and phrases, as appear in other Collins gem Asian language titles. An opportunity sadly missed.
